Big Shot
Tyler, the Creator and Louis Vuitton Men’s collaborate on a Spring 2024 capsule featuring golf-inspired, preppy staples
SINCE DEBUTING HIS FIRST COLLECTION AS CREATIVE DIRECTOR
of Louis Vuitton Men’s almost a year ago, Pharrell Williams has kept his fans on their feet with shows in Hong Kong, and the launch of a cowboy-inspired collection this past January. Spring, however, has seen the multi-faceted creative invite his close friend and musical collaborator, Tyler, the Creator (who composed the soundtrack for Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2022 show), to conceptualize a capsule showcasing his preppy aesthetic.
When it came to creating the collection, Tyler, the Creator drew from his own personal style. “I dress the same in a meeting as I do a performance or grocery store trip,” says the musician, adding that he prioritized wearability during the design process.
Featuring transitional staples in creamy hues of chocolate, pastels, and
vanilla — similar to a palette found in a pâtisserie — the capsule is tied together by an emblem, the Craggy Monogram, which was hand-sketched by Tyler, the Creator himself, and fuses his own iconography with the maison’s. Throughout the collection, the motif appears on both fleece and down jackets, coordinating denim separates, belts, and various iconic bags, including Louis Vuitton’s dog carrier, as well as five new luggage silhouettes. Elsewhere in the collection, golf-inspired pieces crafted in Damier further express the preppy spirit of the collaborative capsule.
As the first partnership under Pharrell’s LVERS community — a global network of artists dedicated to craftsmanship — this capsule by Tyler, the Creator not only captures Louis Vuitton’s inventive ethos, but also demonstrates the creative dialogue that’s possible when two world-class artists collide.
