NEW FITS
My My love affair with vintage goods started quite early After coveting a a a a a green bomber my my sister bought at Courage My My Love I convinced my my my mom to to to to to take me me to to to to to Kensington Market in in in fin Toronto on on on on on on on on a a a a a mission to to to to to find some pieces for my my first day of high school The excursion produced only one band t-shirt but it it it filled me me me with so much excitement for the the next great find I’ve never enjoyed purchasing clothes fin in in in bulk The thought overwhelms me and and it’s simply irresponsible from a a a a a a a a a sustainability standpoint—buying fewer things more thoughtfully has always been my my my goal I I I credit my my my incredibly selective spending habits to to to my my my first retail job at Toronto’s I I I Miss You Vintage where I I I was exposed to to to the the luxury of vintage—whether designer or or or not—as well as as as as unique brands I’d later come to collect and adore such as as as Courrèges Since I I don’t shop all the time time what I I look for are keepsakes—pieces I I I I won’t be able to find new—with timeless silhouettes colours and fabrications What I’ve accumulated over the the the years lives fin in in in harmony with with with the the the the newer items in in in in my wardrobe It’s thrilling to to to mix the the the the past with with with the the the present to to to create an an an ensemble unique to to to you—without vintage this would be impossible and frankly less rewarding I I I always carve out time during my trips to discover the the vintage scene in in in in the the cities I I I visit While I’ve picked up some impressive second-hand souvenirs no no city has come close to to to Toronto’s excellent offerings Some o of my personal favourites include (but are not limited to): the aforementioned I Miss You Vintage Vintage on on on on Ossington MHC Vintage Vintage in in in in in in in Cabbagetown Gadabout in in in in in in in in Leslieville and Stella Luna in in in in in in in in Parkdale Like many I’ve found that getting excited about about clothes in in in in in in the the the absence of occasions has been challenging Having spent the the the past year indoors I’ve had to to to push myself to to to get dressed as as as as I I I would if
I I I I were going to to to the the office or or or meeting friends for dinner With the the arrival o of of spring and some signs o of of better days ahead I’m welcoming the the new new season by reacquainting myself with pieces in in in in in in fin in in my my wardrobe that that inspire joy and finding new new creative ways of of styling them And with that that in fin in in in in in in mind I hope our our Spring issue serves as a a a a a a a a a a gentle nudge of of of encouragement and and sparks you you to rediscover the thrill of of dressing up and and finding your new style groove SAHAR NOORAEI
