addition to stick indexes, a tachymeter scale bezel, and a Heuer 02 Tourbillon Nanograph movement, the TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma premiered a sandblasted black anodized aluminum case set with 48 lab-grown diamonds in Tetris-like geometric shapes, along with a rhodium-plated brass dial covered in a polycrystalline diamond plate.

“Innovation and redefining frontiers are in our DNA,” said Frédéric Arnault, TAG Heuer’s CEO. “By using lab-grown diamonds in such an avant-garde manner, we want to make things in a new and exciting way. This is an innovation that has long been planned and introduces just our opening chapter for a long history to be created.”
As visually stunning as it is technically complex, the TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma 9suggests a new direction for TAG Heuer, setting the stage for other creations that blend luxurious materials with classic designs in unexpected ways. As anyone familiar with the brand’s iconic sports watch will know, however, it’s only the latest in a long history of groundbreaking designs to bear the Carrera name.
As with many brilliant creations, the TAG Heuer Carrera was born out of necessity. Legend has it that in 1958, watch designer Jack Heuer was competing in a Swiss road rally when — unable to read his dashboard timer correctly — he dropped from first place to third.
