IN MOST CONTEXTS, THE LETTERS “GMT” STAND FOR
Greenwich Mean Time, the standard international time zone. In the world of watches, however, “GMT” is shorthand for a watch that can display two distinct time zones at once. Typically featuring an arrow-tipped GMT hand and a multidirectional rotating bezel, these watches were designed in the 1950s to help pilots keep track of the time at both their destination and departure cities at a glance. The basic design hasn’t changed all that much in the decades since, but the wide array of options we’ve assembled here prove that the GMT remains a stylish choice in any time zone.
