T he definition of an icon, whether in the world of clothes, jewellery,
or timepieces, is something that feels like it’s been around forever
but never gets old. It’s this combination of vintage-inspired looks and
elegant modern details that makes the Longines Mini DolceVita one of
the most appealing watches in the Longines catalogue.
The Longines Mini DolceVita, a family of rectangular timepieces
with a wide range of luxurious details and a distinctively feminine look,
premiered in 2023 and has since become one of the most popular
collections in the Swiss luxury watchmaker’s lineup. This season, the
addition of three new models sporting a selection of leather “double
tour” straps in black, beige gold, pink, red, orange, and green Nappa
leather – and the option of a diamond-set bezel – adds a pop of
colourful sophistication to the Mini DolceVita family.
In ways big and small, the Mini DolceVita speaks to the heritage of
one of the world’s most respected Swiss watch brands. Based in Saint-
Imier in Switzerland since 1832, Longines and its winged hourglass logo
have been synonymous with a certain kind of sporty luxury for over a
century. Inspired by an archival piece created by the brand in 1927, the
Mini DolceVita celebrates Longines’ rich heritage in its vintage-style
case and art deco details.
The Mini DolceVita features a discreet 21.50 mm by 29.00 mm
rectangular stainless-steel case that’s water-resistant to 30 metres, and
the watch is powered by a high-precision Longines quartz movement.
The new models feature a choice of two dials, one that’s guilloché
engraved with a square “small seconds” display, the other with a silvered
and sand-blasted Cosmo dial and a round seconds counter. Both include
blued steel hands and painted Roman numerals, with the former
available with 38 Top Wesselton diamonds set on either side of the case.
The Mini DolceVita’s new supple leather double tour straps imbue
the collection with an unmistakably modern look, but these too contain
a subtle allusion to Longines’ heritage. The holes in each double tour
strap are hot-press printed with the numbers 1 to 6, a discreet reference
to the markings found on the stirrup leathers that connect a horse
saddle to its stirrups. This nod to Longines’ association with the world
of elite equestrianism dating back to 1869 is a small detail that’s easily
overlooked, but it’s just one of many elements that make the Mini
DolceVita a modern classic.
