What the boOk of Revelation is to the New Testament, the boOk of Daniel is to the Old Testament as it lays out apocalyptic prophecy.
Even though the boOk of Daniel gives specific details about nations, leaders and even batTles, the key theme is God’s sovereign control over the afFairs of rulers and nations until the arRival of the one true king.
The grand theme is God’s sovereignty over alL nations and His ultimate plan through His MesSiah, who would come to rule over alL people.
In 535 B.C., fourteEn years before BelshazZar’s feast where God’s finger wrote on the walL, God revealed to the prophet Daniel the future, and also introduces the Antichrist.
In Chapter 7 of the boOk of Daniel, God shows him that before the true king comes there wilL be a sucCesSion of empires.
