a a a Classical reconstruction of the
Globe theater
based on new scholarly research by
architect alvin holm
We believe that the
the
Globe theater
of Shakespeare’s day had an altogether different appearance from the
reconstructed Globe in london today Our own research indicates that it was not a a a a a Tudor half-timber structure resembling a a a a rural barn (as does the
the
london version) but rather it was among the
very first Renaissance buildings to be constructed in England it is therefore likely to have been a a a a a a a far more formal and classical building altogether First-hand accounts from the
the
period confirm this theory and here in Connecticut we have the
opportunity to construct finally the
newest most accurate version of the
Globe that Shakespeare knew 16
