Thehistoryofartismadebypeople’sstories,personalpathswhichappeartobemorethanenigmaticalthoughtheyrepresentasortof“spinalhardware”togivereal sensetotheworksofartthemselves.Oneofthesestories-whichhasjustbeenrediscovered-hasastronglinktotheSwisartistLuigiPericle(1916-2001)andtoa placeontheLakeMaggiorewhichwasparticularlymeaningfulintermsofeventsandsymbolism.Infactinthefirsthalfof1900sitwasthemeetingpointforartists, intelectualsandesotericistsfrom alovertheworld.Thisplacewasbaptisedas“MonteVerità”byagroupofprecursorsofthehippiescomingfrom Germanspeaking Switzerland:theystrovetoestablishacommunitywheretheycouldlivefarfrom thebourgeoisrulesandclosetonature.
Asamateroffact,wearespeakingaboutMonteMonescia,agreenoasisinthecantonofTicinolocatedafew minutesfrom Ascona.Startingfrom theThirtiessome disciplesbelongingtoSteiner’stheosophybegantoflockpreciselytothismagicalplacewheretheEranosmeetingspromotedbyCarlGustavJungusedtobeheld.It’s exactlyinthiscontextthatPericle(borninBasel)decidedtosetlewithhiswifeOrsolina.
