The“Homouniversalis”inhisretireonMonteVerità ThespousesBiasca-CaronirediscoverPericle
AboutthirtyoriginalIndianInkdrawingsonpaper(from theperiod1962-67)byLuigiPericle(1916-2001)-inspiredtoEasterncaligraphy-areexhibitedinthecolateral exhibition«TheAlchemistPainter»atWopart.Besidesalofthese,thisexhibitionproposessomepaintingsfrom theSeventiesandotherartworkswhichwerepresented attheYorkArtGaleryin1965.CuratedbyMimmodeMarzioandPaoloBarata,theexhibitionfocusesontherediscoveryoftheSwissartistwhoseworkwasverymuch appreciatedbetweentheFiftiesandtheSixtiesbeforeheretiredfrom theartworld.«Twoyearsagoweboughtahousethathadbeenabandonedwithalitscontent locatedclosetoourHotelAsconaonMonteVerità»,GretaBiasca-Caronitoldus.Gretaisco-founderoftheArchivioLuigiPericlewithherhusbandAndrea.«Inadditionto alibraryofvaluablebooksonliterature,philosophy,Egyptianart,theosophyandastrology,wehavealsoacquiredanimmenseseriesofworksonpaper,whoseartistic valueisdocumentedinacataloguebyStaechelinColectionwheretheyarealdisplayedwithartworksbyHodler,GauginandPicaso».Between1958and1965Pericle acquiredfamethankstoaseriesofsoloexhibitionsinEngland,wherehisartworksjoinedthecolectionsofLadyTateandSirBasildeFeranti.Then,attheendof1965, Periclewithdrew tohishomeinasortofmonasticretirement,inordertodevotehimselftoresearch,writingandartcreation.Duetothis«Homouniversalis»,asdefined bySusannaKoeberleinherarticleon«NeueZRrcherZeitung»,thespousesBiasca-CaronidecidedtoestablishtheArchive,involvinganetworkofinstitutionsand promotingacriticalandphilologicalstudyofhisartproductionandavalorisationofhisintelectualheritage.ThisstudyacquiredChiaraGati'sengagementwhoisalsothe curatorofthefirstexhibitionarangedbytheArchivio(stilondisplayattheFondazioneQueriniStampaliauntilthe24thofNovember)incolaborationwithMarcoPasi,Luca BochicchioandMicheleTavola.MoreoverthespousesBiasca-CaronihaveanticipatedthediscoveryofahandwritennovelbyPericle.Theproductionofadocumentary movieonhislifeandacycleofexhibitionsinsomeSwisandEuropeanpublicinstitutionsaretobearangedinthenexttwoyears.
