 Visionary Leaders Mamudo Ibraimo
Mamudo Ibraimo, the current WIOCC Chair, obtained his Masters Degree in Finance from the University of Technology of Sydney, Australia.
He then joined Mozambique Telecom (TDM) in 1984, where he served in different technical and managerial positions up to 1999, when he was elected as a member of the Board of Directors. He served as CFO until 2008 and then as CEO until 2011, when he was appointed as CEO of the Mozambique national mobile company, MCEL.
In 2014 he was appointed CEO of Teledata, an ISP within the TDM group of companies and was re-appointed as the CEO of TDM, a position he held until June 2017.
One of his main accomplishments at TDM was the implementation and operation of a three-hop 1,100 kilometre- long submarine national optical cable system in the Indian Ocean on the Eastern Seaboard. During his tenure, TDM successfully implemented an optical fibre transmission backbone network of about 9,000 kilometres linking all the major cities in Mozambique.
In 2008, TDM became a shareholder in WIOCC and Mamudo was part of the core group that participated in the negotiations with the Development Finance Institutions.
Chipo Mtasa
Former WIOCC Chair Chipo Mtasa is an accomplished chief executive whose career has spanned several sectors and earned her a reputation for operational efficiency and leadership acumen. A chartered accountant by profession, Chipo has leveraged her product and technical expertise to build competitive advantage for the companies she has led.
She is the current Managing Director of TelOne (Pvt) Limited, one of Zimbabwe’s biggest telecommunication companies. Chipo has led the company to become one of the best performing government-linked companies, through technology roll-out, improved systems efficiency, revenue increasing strategies and improving client experience. Today, TelOne is a key player in the national ICT industry, whose network provides the main backbone on which other players ride their services, as well as providing affordable communication solutions to Zimbabweans in all corners of the country. Chipo sits on several boards in different capacities, including the current Chair of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority.
Chipo served as the Chair of the WIOCC Board from August 2016 to August 2018.
