 William Heath
What do you study at Seaford?
A Level Economics, Politics and History
Tell us about your EPQ
The title is, “Is Michael Schumacher the greatest F1 driver of the modern era?” I chose the title as a break from the intense subjects I study, it’s a bit of fun to discuss with friends and so relaxing to do. I love Formula 1, it’s relaxing to watch. It’s really interesting and involves cutting edge technology. I think it’s almost reached the optimum speed as you can’t go any quicker round the corners
Tell me about your subjects
History has a lot of coursework, it’s familiar as I’ve done it before. Economics is a new subject and you really have to concentrate and focus, I need to remember
absolutely everything. I got a 5 in GCSE Maths and I did well in the graphs and the percentage questions, which is what I need for Economics.
Politics is a lot more technical than History. I find the government and the secrecy at national security levels very interesting. MPs and government positions seem to change constantly, it’s hard to remember who they all are! I’m interested in it so I enjoy the subject. My father and brother did the same A Level subjects as me, which I didn’t realise until we spoke recently! I chose the subjects as I’m interested in them, I can’t draw as I have dyspraxia and I didn’t want the coursework of a BTEC subject.
Tell me about LBC when you phoned in?
I thought it would be a bit of a laugh but then I actually got to talk to Boris Johnson. I’m a
member of the Tory Party so I got to vote. I have an area in my bedroom where I keep Tory articles, and the bottle of Pol Roger that I got after the Devizes to Westminster marathon, as it was the champagne which Churchill drank.
What do you think about what is going on at the moment with Brexit?
It’s gone on too long! Just make a decision! If we stay our position in EU is compromised, we’ll be known as the country that can’t leave the EU. And if we go, they’ll be some uncertainty. If other countries want to come out that could affect us too, especially with trading treaties. There are so many different possibilities and it’s a complex issue. Recently we’ve seen politicians changing sides, it’s interesting times with the subjects I’m studying!
Matthew George
What do you study at Seaford?
BTEC Business, BTEC Sport and BTEC Countryside Management
Why did you choose your subjects?
I chose BTEC Sport as I am quite good at coursework and I thought Business would be helpful in the future. It’s nice to learn about agriculture etc. in Countryside Management. I have helped out with our Forest School.
Do you like the way you are taught at Seaford?
My teachers are very supportive and helpful. They explain things in a way I understand it. The classes are smaller than at my last school which really helps.
