Induction week to Wales
We welcome all of our Year 12 students with a bonding trip to Wales. The trip allows everyone to get to know each other, make new friends and enjoy team building activities.

What did you get out of your trip to Wales last year?
Everyone is quite anxious and nervous to begin with, but then people start to relax and you see their true characters. Because I’d been at Seaford a while I was relaxed, not trying to be anything, so I tried to have a 5 minute conversation with the new students to make them feel welcome. The whole dynamics change in Year 12 with the new intake. It’s great to meet new students that are joining for Sixth Form.

What did you gain from the induction trip to Wales as you’ve been at Seaford a long time?
I missed the induction trip in Year 9 so Wales was great. I got to meet everyone and made friends who I might not have met or made friends with otherwise, which is really nice.
When people are doing different courses to me, or in different social groups, it can be harder to meet people, but getting thrown into cold water with a paddle is a great way to get to know someone! I have had a continuous set of friends through Seaford, so it’s nice to broaden that in the Sixth Form. I felt comfortable in Wales as I’ve been at the school a long time so it made it easier for me to approach the new students as I knew what they must be feeling, being new.

What did you think of the induction trip to Wales?
Amazing! I shared a room with a new girl and now we’re great friends. She does totally different subjects and I wouldn’t have met her otherwise. I enjoyed the abseiling and white water rafting. Mr Adams was in our group and he kept laughing the whole time! It was really good fun. The person steering the boat kept taking us through the rapids so the boat kept filling up with water.
