For the first time in your academic life, you have a real choice about the curriculum that you get to study. When making your subject selection, every student will need to consider a number of different factors. We understand that this can be both an exciting and a daunting prospect, as the decisions you make will influence your future.
The good news is that you do not have to make these life- changing decisions on your own: your subject teachers, tutors and parents are all here to help and advise you.
Within this booklet, you will be guided through this process, from subject information, to enrichment opportunities, to careers and beyond.
The Middle School represents the first milestone for you to take direct responsibility for aspects of your education. At Seaford, we pride ourselves on a nurturing environment that gets personal bests out of every student. By having more freedom within the choices of your curriculum, each student is expected to take more ownership of their learning.
Your actions, particularly the amount of effort you make inside and outside of the classroom, will determine your ultimate success.
With regard to the choices available to you, we are delighted to offer bespoke learning pathways that meet every student’s needs. We will offer advice on combinations that suit individual strengths and interests and there will be the opportunity to speak with teachers about your options choices in an informal, open and honest discussion. Ultimately, we want to help you to tailor your subjects to give you the greatest chance of success at Seaford and beyond.
Making choices from this booklet is the first step in the journey that leads to your external examinations and gaining those qualifications. No decisions need to be made until the February half-term, by which stage you will have had plenty of opportunities to research each subject fully.
Make sure that you listen to your subject teachers as they know where your strengths lie and will be able to tell you about the different demands of each subject.
