Food Preparation and Nutrition

Summary of Programme for Year 9:
This course covers a range of topics based around preparation of meals, food hygiene, nutrition, meal planning and healthy eating.
Basic and specialist equipment may be used during various practical lessons. This is a wide ranging, life skills subject that provides an exciting opportunity for students to learn about many different aspects of food.
Does the Year 9 course include any elements of the GCSE?
We will touch on some aspects of the GCSE but will mainly be focusing on different topics/skills through the year.

Summary of Programme for Year 9:
Students will begin the IGCSE curriculum in Year 9. A three-year course allows much greater depth of study and provides time to develop the necessary skills and experience as well as developing a love of reading and writing.
Students will spend the year becoming familiar with the
IGCSE anthology, studying a range of non-fiction excerpts
and honing their writing skills. They will study both ‘Of Mice
and Men’ and ‘Macbeth’, will develop their imaginative writing and essay writing skills and will practise responding to texts under examination conditions.
Does the Year 9 course include any elements of the GCSE?
We will be starting on the full IGCSE course in Year 9 in order to cover key concepts.
