Boarding at Seaford
Sienna Ellman-Baker
What do you like about
boarding?
I’ve been a weekly boarder since
I joined in Year 12 and I love it. It
feels homely and we have a lot of
fun in the evenings after prep is
done. In Year 12, I liked being with
the younger students because
they look up to you and I often
helped them with advice. In Year
13 in Heden Court, it feels really
grown up and I think it’s a great
preparation for university life after
Seaford. All my friends board. It’s
like having a massive sleepover,
we cook and eat together and it’s
so much fun. It’s nice to have the
boys next door, we are allowed
into their common room to
socialise. It’s nice not to be too
separated.
Boarding makes you get your
work done but you have to
schedule your time well, it’s one of
the things you have to learn.

Tell us about boarding?
Mr Ashton has been my
Houseparent from Year 9 to Year
12, and he’s just been amazing.
He’s always full of very helpful
advice. I’m now in Year 13 so I
board in Heden Hall but I still go
for a support meeting with Mr
Ashton, the pastoral support is
amazing at Seaford. In Year 13 we
have 2 hours of prep time each
evening and I use this time to get
my work done, having
this time allows me to
do more co-curricular
activities between
4.30-5.30pm. I like to
get my work done at
school and then at the
weekends it’s family
time at home.

Tell us about your boarding
experience
I have flexi-boarded in both
Mansion and Heden Court when
I’ve needed to for performing
arts commitments. It’s a lovely
experience. I miss my family
but it’s like another close family.
Everyone is so welcoming and it’s
nice not to have to travel home
sometimes.
