Your future
Preparing you for a new world
Navigating the world
of careers has never
been easy, but in the
digital age the job
market is changing
more quickly and
the future is possibly
harder to predict. We
are well aware that
work patterns have
changed and the
concept of a job for
life has disappeared,
but what might be in
store for our young
people when they
embark upon their
careers? Getting
a good job is not
just about going to
university; we need to
consider alternative
pathways that offer
the option to earn
at the same time as
learn. This also opens
up opportunities to
develop the skills that
will be required in
future workplaces.
One of the advantages
of the digital age is
that there is a lot of
information that is
readily accessible.
At Seaford we try
to signpost this
information and get
students to think
about where their
strengths lie and
in which direction
they hope to move forward with their lives. It is no
longer sufficient to have good qualifications; to be
successful, young people need to demonstrate their
skills of communication, problem solving, creativity,
leadership, teamwork and resilience. Our academic
and enrichment programmes help students along
this pathway, and the careers programme focuses
on developing these skills.
Our careers provision includes profiling and one-
to-one guidance for all students in Year 11. We
invite speakers to come in and give an insight into
different areas of employment, and we organise
practical workshops to focus on employability skills.
We work with Morrisby, which gives us access to
an extensive career library and up-to-date advice.
Our intention is to raise awareness of the array of
opportunities available to suit all needs.
Seaford will help you to figure out the way forward
and will equip you with the skills that matter.
