There are many reasons to shine and they vary for all of us.We tend to shine when we are doing things we love because the things we love bring us joy and we generally do them well.That is why we have to find what we love and value in our work — to align it with our own joy.When we shine, we have joy. Imagine a world full of joyful people!
The opposite is also true.When things in our life suck our joy, we don’t shine.
In my years of research around “shining,” I identified three interesting trends around why people shine and what influences them to shine:
1. Our ability to align our passions and contributions with our work and life
2. Our choice to be an active life participant, “an engager”
3. Our knowledge around what truly motivates us
All three help us turn on our own motivational switch. When your switch is in the “on” position, everything is possible!
