THE WALK
KEY VERSE
Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
Amos 3:3
As the sun over Jerusalem began to set in the west, the old man wearily gathered together his things from
the ground around him. As he slowly raised himself
from the hard rock where he had been sitting most of the day, he felt as though every joint in his body was aching from sitting so long in one position. He turned his head thoughtfully from side to side in amazement as he re- called the numerous troubled yo ung men who had come by the city’s gates that day seeking his counsel. As a very respected prophet of the city, they all came to him believ- ing he would have the solutions to their many varied and complex problems. Of the many seeking his advice, the question presented to him by the city’s most popular rabbi was the most disturbing to Amos.
Amos recalled how the rabbi had pushed and shoved his way through the crowds of busy merchants and their customers to speak to him. It was evident to those who were watching, the rabbi was greatly troubled! He even interrupted Amos while he was engaged in conversation with a farmer from the valley.
