No, I do not know exactly how it happened, but I do have an idea.
Let’s go back in time, way back to 1,000 BC, and then back to 2,000 BC, and 3,000 BC, and then finally, around to 4,000 BC, back to the days when Enoch lived.
I believe while Enoch was yet a child; he climbed up on his grandpa’s lap and said, “Grandpa, Grandpa, tell me again, grandpa,” as little Enoch tugged on his grandfa- ther’s tunic. Please, please, one more time, as his little eyes looked up pleadingly at his grandpa Adam.
Yes, little Enoch no doubt many times had sat on the knees of his great, great, great, great, great, great, grandfa- ther Adam.
This was normal when you lived back in those days, for Adam lived to the ripe old age of 930 years old. Adam is Enoch’s great, great, great, great, great, great, grandfather.
Oh, Enoch had heard this story so many times before. It was his favorite. He couldn’t get enough of it.
Is that the way you are about Jesus? Oh, tell me again how Jesus died on the cross for my sins! Tell me again how I can be filled with the Holy Ghost and Fire! Tell me again how I can be healed of this sickness I have! Tell me again how Jesus can meet my every need! Tell me again that Jesus is coming back soon! The story never gets old, does it?
“Well, OK,” Adam says slowly, for when Enoch was born, Adam was 622 years old.
How many know that when you have reached your 622nd birthday, it’s alright to slow down some? Grandpa Adam still had another 308 good years ahead of him.
There are those who study Adam and Eve’s lives who believe that Eve probably outlived Adam. That’s usually the way it works today, isn’t it?
