      KARAMU: 100 YEARS IN THE HOUSE
Recognized for producing in-depth features and award-winning programs, ideastream premiered several original documentaries in 2017. Karamu: 100 Years in the House, which debuted during February 2017 in honor of Black History Month, showcased the oldest African-American theater in America, the Karamu House in Cleveland. Hosted by Karamu alum and Grey’s Anatomy cast member James Pickens
Jr., the special illustrated the signi cance of this iconic cultural landmark. Public television stations broadcasted the 30-minute program nationally.

ANIMATING THE CUNNING LITTLE VIXEN
American Public Television selected this ideastream original documentary for national distribution. Opera Reimagined: Animating the Cunning Little Vixen followed the journey of this innovative production, which blended opera with technology and animation from conception to tech tests to opening night. Through interviews with key players and footage of rehearsals and production meetings, this 30-minute documentary revealed how the opera came together piece-by-piece, giving a well-rounded view of all the elements of this unique performance.
LEARNING ENGLISH
In response to the Cleveland Metropolitan School District’s growing English learners population, Learning English: Diverse Students in American Classrooms was produced. The documentary explored this community composed of immigrants, refugees and children born in the United States to families who speak another language. Educators and students were featured as they worked together to learn English and master crucial academic content. WVIZ/PBS ideastream broadcasted this 30-minute documentary in September 2017.
