2023 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
In 2023, our programs and services included the following:
BBHH Grocery Store: We provided families with a grocery supply of 45% fresh vegetables and whole grains. Each family received an average of 150 lbs of groceries a month, saving them an average of $300 per month.
In 2023, we served neighbors from over 190 zip codes. Our distribution model expanded to include our new South Dallas Community Market and pantry inside the Inspired Vision Academy Secondary School. We also opened the Learning Garden at the West Dallas STEM School and launched our Food Prescription Program in partnership with Texas A&M University. In 2024, we are opening satellite grocery stores at two Dallas ISD Resource Centers in the western and southern sectors.
Bilingual Case Management: The BBHH team of bilingual Community Health Workers provided customized outreach and resources for our neighbors who needed additional stabilization. Services included screening for available public benets, transportation services, and other BBHH services.
Community Clinic: The BBHH clinic provided primary and specialty care to uninsured and underinsured neighbors, including vision care, mammograms, EKGs, labs, vaccines, ENT, well women's exams, diabetic supplies, mental health counseling, VitalSign6 Depression Screening, and Cohort Depression Studies. All patients diagnosed with anxiety and depression were referred to our service partners for mental health counseling. We partner with UT Southwestern to provide a
biweekly evening and women’s clinic. All patients had access to our health literacy class, Healthy Families, and wrap-around support for groceries and nancial assistance.
Children's Education and Enrichment: The BBHH Children's Program team delivered the BBHH Afterschool program, spring break, and summer camps. Camps included VBS, STEM, arts, and sports.
Adult Enrichment: Programs were available to all neighbors and included ESL and GED, computer literacy, Homebuyers workshops, Healthy Living classes, tness classes, and job training and placement.
Family-Centric Events: BBHH hosted regular outreach events: Back to School Bash, Neighbor Day, Christmas Celebration, and Parenting/Diaper Day. These events also engage our families with essential resources and information.
