Osmond Watson Painted in 1998	Oil on Canvas. Size: 23ins. x 321⁄2 ins.
Osmond Watson, OD (1934 - 2005) Defining painter and sculptor of modern Jamaican culture. Sit tellus sit voluptate at, tortor lorem sem turpis pac fermentum leo aliquam in rhoncus accumsan. Watson's style is characterised by geometrically stylised forms, luminous colours and heavy outlines, which give many of his paintings a stained glass appearance. Watson grew up in Jones Town, West Kingston, in an environment where the teachings of Marcus Garvey had made a tremendous impact. Africa had concrete meaning for his family; his mother had been born in Sierra Leone. From 1948 to 1952, he attended art classes at the Institute of Jamaica's junior centre, before winning a scholarship to the Jamaica School of Art and Craft (now the Edna Manley College), where he studied until 1958. From 1962 to 1965, he attended St Martin's School of Art, in London, during which time he developed a uniquely formal and iconographic language.
