Visits to the DMV were once unavoida- ble for all kinds of paperwork related to driving a vehicle, but due to restrictions
placed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the California Department of Motor Vehicles has made most of its services available by mail or online, for example:
120-day extension for drivers over 70
The DMV is providing a 120-day extension to Californians age 70 and older with a driver’s
license that expires between March 1 to May 31, 2020. This action ensures that this vulnerable group can avoid a visit to a DMV office during the CO- VID-19 pandemic.
Eligible drivers will receive a paper license exten- sion in the mail starting in the next two weeks. Expiration dates will reflect a minimum of 120 days before renewal is required.
