Should I wait to file?
No. File 2019 tax returns as soon as possible despite the July 15 extension if you are expec- ting a much needed return. Do not delay. Sim- ple returns can be filed from home for free at https://www.myfreetaxes.org/.
Can I use a 2018 tax return?
Yes. If you have not filed a 2019 tax return, use a 2018 return. If that hasn’t been filed, you may be able to use a 2019 Social Security statement showing your income to see what an employer reported to the IRS.
