CHARLES HARRIS - CAPTAIN
Recently named as one of the top 100 NCISAA runners over the past decade, Charles also ranks as one of Latin’s best male distance runners of all time, and has served as a team captain for two seasons. He simply defines passion and dedication for the sport, and has done so consistently since he was in middle school. Whether it’s pushing himself to the front of the pack or consistently lay- ing down 10 mile training runs, Charles has created a legacy that will live on after he graduates, illustrating what it takes to succeed in this most demand- ing of sports.
COLE LAVELLE - CAPTAIN
Cole is one of the best athletes
at Latin, and is a key performer in cross-country, wrestling, and track and field. He has also emerged as a highly effective team leader, now serving
his second consecutive season as team captain. Few athletes can match Cole’s versatility, or his combination
of speed and endurance. It means so much to his younger teammates when Cole takes them aside to help them with drills, or to pace them through intervals. Cole is a big reason why the young Latin boys team is one of the most promising in the state this year.
SHREYAS IYER
Shreyas has a sharp and witty sense of humor, which helps keep the mood light at practice, but when it’s time to go to work he is all business. He was a regular at our voluntary workouts in July, showing that he is determined to have his best season ever. We looked for Shreyas to contend for a spot at the state meet this season. No matter what, Shreyas can be counted upon to give his very best, and to make his teammates better in the process.
MARIA LLERENAS SOTO - CAPTAIN
The term “big-game performer” comes to mind when we think of Maria’s contri- butions to the cross-country team. Time and time again she has laid down great performances when it matters most, helping her team to conference and invi- tational championships. She has shown how to perfectly balance the demands of being a multi-sport athlete and a top student. Team captain, All-Conference, and All-State runner, Maria has had a brilliant career for the Hawks.
