LETTER FROM THE BOOSTER CLUB PRESIDENT
  Dear Hawks Fans,
Latin sports offer wonderful opportunities to bring our Hawk community together to cheer on our students. It is a “win-win” for ev- eryone - our athletes feel supported and our fans see our outstanding student athletes compete in the “right way”. It is why we as a Booster Club Board do what we do; we are all Latin Hawks, no matter what our role might be at the school.
Our Winter sports teams may be few, but the athletes were fierce, competitive, determined and their accomplishments were wide.
The Hawks soared beyond expectations and claimed a third consecutive State Championship title for the boys’ swim team, and an against-the-odds second place finish for the girls’ swim team. Charlotte Latin swept the CISAA Swimming Championship, claiming an 11th consecutive title for the boys’ team and winning a tight competition on the girls’ side with a 1-point advantage over sec- ond-place Providence Day. Our Booster Club “sign fairies” were pleased to deliver the “Home of a State Champ” sign to our boys’ team.
After a 10 year State Championship winning streak, The Mat Hawks placed second in the CISAA and State tournaments. No doubt they will reclaim their position soon. While the Boys basketball team did not achieve their ultimate goal, they had so much to be proud of! With a record of 23-4 and the best record in over 15 years, the team had their 3rd Final Four appearance in the past four years.
Congratulations to sophomore Ivy Monk and freshman Norvy Clontz on winning individual state championships in the 100 breast- stroke and 500 freestyle, respectively, and to the 4x100 freestyle relay of James Harper ‘24, Wiley Spinner ‘24, Aidan Hill ‘24, and Levani Tutovani ‘22 for claiming an NCISAA championship and a new NICSAA and Latin school record!
And the girls basketball team brought down the house at our annual Winter Sport Showcase, with the support of the Cheer and Dance teams. While WSS was not what we had hoped for, we were grateful for the large crowd that came out to support the team. Finally, hats off to our young Hawks cheerleaders that got to perform at the basketball games.
Not able to come out in person to cheer on the Hawks? With the support of the athletic department and the continued financial support from the BC, we are able to broadcast all of our varsity sports this year. CLS currently has 5 student broadcasters and are reaching over 30 states and a few countries! Hawks fly high!
CLS Booster Club will soon roll out the red carpet for our signature annual awards event, The Hawkspys, to celebrate our senior athletes, varsity teams, and our coaches. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 18th.
I have the great privilege to work alongside a very dedicated group of hard working volunteers on the Booster Club Board. We look forward to moving back outside for our Spring sports season.
Go Hawks! Nilma Amin
