LETTER FROM THE BOOSTER CLUB PRESIDENT
Dear CLS Hawks Fans,
As per usual, our spring season was as busy as ever. Charlotte Latin student athletes really soared to amazing heights this year and soared! Latin finished strong with a Girls’ Lacrosse third consecutive NCISAA title and State runner-up for Girls Soccer. Seniors Madeleine Pease and Jaylen Jones were State Champions in the high jump event. We also hosted a very successful CISAA Track & Field Championship with more than 400 athletes representing the six member schools. Our incredible volunteers fulfilled 113 requested volunteer roles and many of you went above and beyond what you signed up for. Our coaches and volunteers were complemented by our conference schools.
We rolled out the red carpet for our annual sports awards held on May 18 for a night of the Hawkspys. We honored our senior ath- letes, varsity and state championship teams, and our coaches. The atmosphere of the night illustrated the energy and creativity of the Hawkspy committee chairs. Thank you to all that made the evening memorable.
We recognized two coaches who have had tremendous success over their many years of dedication to our students at Charlotte Latin. Coach Lee Horton won 1,012 soccer games and Coach Patty Waldron was honored with yet another Charlotte Observer Coach of the Year award. Both of these coaches are retiring and will be leaving behind hundreds of students who can say they not only learned the skill of soccer and swimming, but they learned about resilience, leadership, and respect.
Thank you to our Athletic Directors for the endless hours you put in to ensure that Charlotte Latin students have the chance to find success on the fields, courts, mats, and pools. Thank you to our trainers who are always there to ice, wrap, stretch, and concussion test, so our athletes can play the sports they love safely. Thank you to our incredible coaches who support, encourage, and inspire. And finally a big thank you to our facility crew who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our fields and campus looking amaz- ing and for always answering my calls for help.
Finally, I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to have served as Booster Club President this year. I cannot thank the Booster Board enough for their unfailing support and the countless volunteer hours they have spent throughout this year on behalf of Latin athletics. I am humbled by their dedication, passion, and commitment and consider it an incredible privilege to have served along with them.
Best wishes for a wonderful summer! I look forward to seeing you on the Latin fields soon.
