GOLF
SENIOR
Congratulations Sarah!
SARAH PICCIOLA - CAPTAIN
Sarah started playing on the Charlotte Latin varsity girls golf team as a freshman, when Latin was runner-up at states with two seniors and a junior leading the way. The next couple of years were tough re- building years but without Sarah it wouldn’t have happened. There were matches that she happily played in as the only Latin golfer, but in her senior year the numbers swelled and she has been surrounded and supported by teammates. Sarah earned All-Conference honors the past two years, and qualified for states her senior year. Sar- ah is positive, enthusiastic, full of life and can do a million things at the same time. However, it is her leadership which guides the team to be inclusive and cohesive.
Her ability to include every member of the team in a decision and make them feel important is a special quality. Sarah has a bright future and she should be proud that she helped make Latin girls’ golf thrive.
VARSITY GOLF
The varsity girls’ golf team had a great season that wasn’t necessarily reflected in our team scores or record. With only one senior and a young team, both in age and experience, our focus was on learning, improving, and enjoying the process. Sarah Picciola led the team in scoring and earned All Conference recognition. She and sophomore Pari Hathiram represented the Hawks well as individuals at the NCISAA Championship. The team gelled easily, treated each other with respect and had a lot of fun together.
MIDDLE SCHOOL GOLF
It was a terrific season for middle school golf with 9 girls on the team. It was the biggest middle school girls’ golf team Charlotte Latin has had in Coach Griffith’s time with the program. Congratulations to Kelsey Sciacca for leading the team with nu- merous rounds in the 30’s. We had a large group of 6th graders who played captains choice in many of our matches, which seemed very popular. We’re excited to see what our two eighth graders, Kelsey Sciacca and Jackie Rao, will contribute to varsity next year, while the rest of the group continues to develop their skills and build on this season’s experience. We have a bright future ahead!
