ABBI SNYDER-CAPTAIN
Abbi is the epitome of a team player. Her willingness to swim whatever the team needs and her ability to continu- ally rise to the occasion in challenging situations are clear examples of her love for her teammates and the sport of swimming. She has committed herself to continual improvement and works toward her goals regardless of the obstacles. She keeps a positive attitude, provides encouragement to others and has had some incredible improvements. Abbi earned her role as team captain with her calm demeanor that turns into fierce competitiveness in the water.
LEVANI TUTOVANI-CAPTAIN
Levani joined the Latin family in tenth grade. Affectionately known as Leo, his power and speed in the pool were immediately evident. Although he specializes in the sprint freestyle, he is skilled in all four strokes and has a fiery, competitive spirit that he hopes energizes and drives his teammates. Leo believes in making swimming fun by supporting each other, enjoying light moments together, and main- taining strong relationships, which undoubtedly played a part in his election as a team captain. As a junior, Leo won individual state titles in the 50 and 100 free, was part of the first place 400 freestyle relay that set a new Latin record, AND part of the 200 medley relay that broke not only the Latin record, but set a new record for the state in division one swimming.
ALEX WU
Alex became a member of the Latin Family in the ninth grade and jumped into a number of activities, including the Asian Student Alliance, Big Brothers and the Fab Lab. As a year-round swimmer, he was looking forward to the opportu- nity to represent his school and make new friends on the Latin team, but he has had a bigger impact than he prob- ably imagined. His freshman year, Alex was asked to compete in the 500 free at both the conference and state cham- pionship. It’s not his favorite event, but he filled the role and performed well
– scoring for the team at both meets. He came through again his sophomore year, finishing 5th and 11th at confer- ence and states, respectively. Although he swam the 500 at CISAAs last year, we gave him a reprieve come state championship time. Alex’s willingness to “take one for the team,” so to speak, illustrates how much he cares about Latin and his teammates.
