LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS
Dear Hawks Fans,
I trust this letter finds you healthy, happy, and in good spirits. Despite a season of some uncertainty as a result of the Covid Omi- cron variant, throughout the winter, we’ve had great resolve in maintaining a supportive environment for our student-athletes’ wellbeing with continued Athletics. I can also attest that this effort has been positive, not only for our winter sports participants, but also for our greater Charlotte Latin community.
From the very outset of this academic year, it has been apparent to me and others that this year’s Senior class both greatly cher- ishes its final year to gather as Upper School students, and is equally committed to shouldering the responsibilities of leading our entire student body through its unselfish, enthusiastic, and can-do attitude. Seniors have admirably carried themselves through- out a difficult time with an eternal optimism that demonstrates their good nature and strong sense of resilience. Their positive outlook has stretched to all areas of campus, which has provided a desperately needed lift to not only carry on with school life, but also to do so with a greater sense of gratitude, as much for the mundane, as for special events. From demonstrating integrity in competition, to excelling at the highest levels, to collecting trash from the spectator stands without asking, to outnumbering our opponents’ home fans at away games, our Senior class has been a model for all classes, deserving of much appreciation and admiration by members of the Athletics department and beyond.
As we look forward to the remainder of the school year, it is my hope that all members of our community will take our lead and inspiration from the Class of 2022 by epitomizing a true generosity of spirit and treasuring any and all moments of gathering af- forded to us.
