THoughts
a Mermaid Written by:
Susan M. Webber
I’m just a mermaid But I can’t swim
I’ m beautiful but
I have no fins.
I wish they were long And colorful, like art Yes, I’m just a mermaid... A mermaid at heart. My hair is long and shiny My body is slim....
My eyes are all-seeing and I’m loved by so many. I’ve been around
Years and years a-plenty.
I adore the wonderful calm blue sea;
The crabs, the seahorses, and starfish all around me. Yes...I’m a mermaid but
I can’t swim
I’m lovely.....an angel...but I can’t swim
I’m gorgeous but have no fins.
The beach calls to me
As the waves whisper by
I rest on the shore
And watch the boats sail by.
My thoughts travel
To that place underneath
Where mermaids go to splash and sleep.
Yes, I’m a mermaid
But I won’t swim
I’m happy that I have no fins.
My heart belongs
To those up here
God made me
To take care of them.
Yes...I’m a mermaid
A mermaid at heart.
