  SOFTBALL RECAP
 VARSITY SOFTBALL
This season included many firsts for our team; from first at-bats (ever, for some!) to first runs scored in a varsity uniform. While the record did not reflect the growth that took place over the course of the season, every player improved their skills. The girls grew together as a team unit and I am looking forward to seeing their continued growth next season.
MIDDLE SCHOOL SOFTBALL
The Hawks finished the 2021 season with a 7-2-1 record. A few highlights from this year included Ainsley Sullivan’s dominant pitching performanc- es. Ainsley finished with a 4-1 record, 1.29 Whip, & 67 strikeouts while maintaining a batting average of .429. Talia Hawa held down the shortstop position while hitting .459 & scoring a team high 21 runs. Sydney Thune also contributed on the mound, finishing with a 3-1 record, while bat-
ting .576 and knocking in a team leading 17 runs. Sydney also added the defensive play of the year when she went completely horizontal to catch a fly ball vs CCDS. Other team statistical leaders included Lindsey Boone batting .600, and Holden Gore’s 3 home runs. This team was very special and has laid the groundwork for continued success for softball at CLS.
