              SAM HOUSE
BASEBALL
Sam started playing baseball when he was four years old
to follow in the footsteps of
his father, Brad, who played collegiate ball at Davidson. The two spent a lot of time together on various baseball fields, and it didn’t take long for Sam to form his own love for the game. The Hawks head baseball coach, Daniel Cooke, said even though he was in
his first year of coaching at Latin and the 2020 season was cut short by the pandemic, Sam made a big impression
in a short amount of time. Sam’s passion for the sport of baseball and his work ethic was evident immediately. He is a remarkable young man who is an outstanding student and well-rounded athlete on the baseball field and a state champion wrestler. Sam will compete at Queens University.

BASKETBALL
STEPHEN KIM
SWIMMING
Stephen has become a studi- ous swimmer. He has always appreciated the importance of stroke technique, and his work ethic and focus combined with consistent practice habits have helped him become an invaluable contributor to the Latin swimming legacy. Ste- phen is known as a breaststro- ker, but he is also exceptional in the 200 individual medley and a powerful sprint free- styler. He’s achieved a great balance of fun and focus – of- ten joking with his teammates behind the blocks just before unleashing a tremendous split on a relay to help the team win. Stephen holds an indi- vidual Latin record in the 100 breaststroke and shares two relay records with Andy – both of which they hope to break (again) at this year’s state championship. He heads to Georgetown University.
ELIZABETH KRESHON
ROWING
In her freshman year, Eliz- abeth wanted to try a new activity outside of school and when a friend mentioned rowing, she was intrigued.
It is an unusual sport for our area and has a strong focus on teamwork, both of which appealed to her. Initially, Eliz- abeth joined Charlotte Youth Rowing and worked with other girls to compete in the quad. But in the past year, she transitioned to rowing in her own single. Her coach Mara Bhalla said, “This transition has taken great courage and tenacity as she has entered
a more competitive sphere of rowing. I have watched her blossom into an incredibly strong and confident athlete, whose joyful spirit, positive attitude, and willingness to work will allow her to achieve great success.” She will row for George Washington Uni- versity.
HOPE MORROW
SOCCER
Hope is the latest in a long legacy of outstanding Latin girls’ soccer keepers. Last year was her first playing with our varsity program, and even in that brief season, we got a great glimpse of her talents and abilities. In 367 minutes, against some of the top teams in the state, she had
46 saves. She is an all-around solid keeper with all the nec- essary tools – shot-stopping ability, strong in the air, great positioning and organization of her defense, as well as ball distribution. Hope started soccer in the fourth grade and although it was initially just an activity, she has grown to love the game and her position as keeper with a passion. Hope says she looks forward to training every day, and she loves the work it takes to continually improve. Hope
will play at Coastal Carolina University.
