WRESTLING RECAP
VARSITY WRESTLING
Admittedly, the team was uncertain if they would be able to compete this season. The night before the first match, the school moved to red and all athletics were put on hold. Things were not looking good, but after returning to school and training, the missed matches were rescheduled, and finally, on January 27th, they hit the mat. The Hawks were 4-0 in the CISAA, and 6-0 over- all, continuing a 60-0 streak in state dual meets. The season ended with our tenth consecutive NCISAA Championship on February 27th. An outstanding senior class led the way all year, and Dean Omirly capped off his Latin wrestling career with a 3rd NCISAA individual title and an overall record of 111-8. This was a memorable season for many reasons, but it was made truly special by this group of hardworking, dedicated wrestlers.
MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLING
Despite all of the uncertainty of Covid going into this season, the middle school wrestling team excelled. The guys showed up ready to work and get better everyday and it showed when we were able to compete. We ended our season with a 3-1 dual record, out-scoring our opponents by 30 points or more in each win. Our only loss came from a tough match against Metrolina, which came down to criteria. It takes a lot of dedication and perseverance to train for 2 months only to compete 4 times outside of the room.
CONGRATULATIONS! 10th CONSECUTIVE NCISAA CHAMPIONSHIP
