SERCO INTERNATIONAL FIRE TRAINING CENTRE (IFTC) in Teesside, a world-leading aviation re training centre, is delighted to have won
a Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade.
Serco’s IFTC o ers life-saving training
to 10,000 delegates from around the
world each year, ranging from major
customers such as NATO, the United
Nations, France and Germany to smaller nations such as Romania and Tahiti.
Rupert Soames, Serco Group Chief Executive, said: “This is a huge honour for Serco. We are immensely proud of the team at the IFTC and their achievements in training re ghters. The centre has superb training facilities and it enjoys an excellent reputation with its customers for
its professionalism. This award also recognises the commitment and dedication of the team.”
The IFTC’s success in exporting re training services also signi cantly boosts the economy of the North East. The centre not only employs 57 people, with a further 100 associate instructors, but it brings thousands of trainees to the region every year, boosting the local economy.

Since the company was founded in 2004 by CEO Dr Simon Hirst, Sygnature has expanded rapidly
in terms of the breadth of research expertise it provides for clients and currently employs over 150 highly skilled laboratory-based, industry- experienced research scientists, all based in its Nottingham headquarters. The city has a long established and renowned reputation for drug discovery and interestingly, Sygnature occupies the same site where Boots scientists invented Ibuprofen.
