5. Writing Workshop Research Report
A research report paper is the result of an investigation; this means you gather information about a certain topic.
To write a research report you should:
1. Choose a topic.
2. Find information about the topic you chose.
3. Make an outline to help organize your ideas before you start writing your report.
4. Write your report based on the information you gathered.
5. Your report should have three parts:
a) An introduction
b) A body
c) A conclusion
CITING A SOURCE
Remember, that it is very important to cite your sources! If you don’t you are committing “plagiarism”; this means you are copying the work of somebody else and passing it as your own. It is important to give credit to the authors.
The information you should provide depends on the source you use (books, encyclopedias, webpage, etc.).
• Look at the punctuation marks carefully.
• It is important that you follow them exactly as shown.
