3. Correct Order of Adjectives
• You already know, that an adjective is a describing word.
• An adjective can come before or after the word that is describing.
• In English it is common to use several adjectives to describe a noun or pronoun.
Examples:
The old, wise father didn’t want to break his daughter’s heart. The father was old and wise.
Read the sentences; circle the adjectives with red and underline with blue the noun or pronoun it´s describing.
1. Strong, rude people, called the Danes, had come from over the sea.
2. Many years ago, there lived in England a wise and good king whose name was Alfred.
3. The woman was baking some delicious, chocolate cakes.
4. They were so bold and strong.
5. He was very tired and hungry.
6. “How much food do we have in the big house?”
7. They had three boats full of fish.
8. The kind king was worried.
