Perfect Tenses
There are three perfect tenses:
Present Perfect Past Perfect Future Perfect
These tenses are formed by:
helping verb has/have+ past participle of the verb helping verb had + past participle of the verb helping verbs have/will + past participle of the verb
Present Perfect
a verb in the present perfect tense shows that the action started to happen sometime in the past. The action may have just happened or may still be happening.
Past Perfect
a verb in the past perfect tense shows that the action happened before a specific time in the past.
Future Perfect
a verb in the future perfect tense shows that the action will be completed before a specific time in the future.
Examples: Mr. lin has been a good father. The soldiers had left the battle field.
K’ang-p’u will have eaten the whole bread.
