The most visible change is the color of the leaves. They start to change color and then fall down.
The weather starts to get cold.
Fruit from the trees is mature.
Animals prepare for the winter, some gather food and put it away, like squirrels, and others eat as much as they can so their body is protected with extra fat for the cold weather and hibernation. Do you know an animal that does this?
Some birds fly south to a warmer weather.
Evergreens are the trees that keep their leaves all year. Just like the ones in the story.
