For some adults reading the newspaper is part of their daily morning routine, it is an easy way of being informed about current events around the world.
  • By definition news is information about recent events.
• It is usually reported by newscast, newspapers and radio.
• A reporter needs to get the facts; it is helpful to use the 5 W’s
and H words. (who, what, where, when , why and how)

1. Front Page General News: Newspaper articles inform us of the most important events around the globe.
Most of the time general news is divided in sections depending on where they took place.
a) National b) State
c) Local
• In this section the reporters are not allowed to write their opinion, only state the facts.
• Most of the time reporters don’t write their names when they write in this section.
2. Editorials: Here different writers publish their own opinions on different subjects like current events, politics, even letters to the editors written by readers.
• In this section writers are expected to write their names.
