Language. Clauses whaT is a Clause?
A clause contains a subject and a verb that is used as a sentence or as part of a sentence. Some clauses express a complete thought and others do not express a complete thought.
indePendenT Clause
An independent clause expresses a complete thought and can stand alone as a sentence.
Examples
He was the winged god.
She was prepared for the ordeal.
subordinaTe Clause
A subordinate clause does not express a complete thought and cannot stand alone.
Examples
That he was not a monster.
As the days turned into weeks.
