 Language. Pronoun – Antecedent Agreement • A pronoun is a word that is used to replace a noun.
In the following chart you will see the personal pronouns; they are called personal pronouns because they refer to persons, except for the pronoun it that refers to things.

     Read the following sentence: Albert saw a boy.
There are two nouns in this sentence: Albert and boy.
Either of these nouns can be replaced by a pronoun. If we replace Albert (the subject
of the sentence) with a pronoun, we choose he, a subject pronoun. He saw a boy.
If we replace man (the object in the sentence) with a pronoun, we choose him, an object pronoun.
     He saw him.
