      Complete and Simple Predicate
• The complete predicate will tell us what the subject is or does. This includes the verb and all the other words that will describe the action.
• The simple predicate will be the most important verb used in the predicate. It will indicate the main action the subject is doing.
         Examples:
Millions of rats
The children

were following the Pied Piper.
    danced to the Piper’s music.

Read the sentences below. Underline the complete subject with red and the complete predicate with blue.
1. The story of the Pied Piper takes place in Germany.
2. I went to a funny little town.
3. All the shops had the same thing in them.
4. The houses were full of rats.
5. The shops were full of them too.
6. They were everywhere.
7. The Mayor explained to the Piper all about their problem.
