4. Extension to Music
The British Invasion
In the mid 1960´s a musical movement which included Rock & Roll and beat groups from the United Kingdom became very popular in the United States. Its popularity spread rapidly, especially in the United States where musicians from Britain were starting to dominate the musical charts.
The most famous band from this movement is undoubtedly “The Beatles”. When they arrived in New York City on February 1964, fans surrounded the Plaza Hotel where the Beatles stayed. This quickly became a phenomenon often referred to as Beatlemania.
The Beatles were a band formed by four musicians from Liverpool, England. They were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr (his real name is Richard Starkey), and George Harrison.
It’s hard to think of somebody not knowing a Beatles’ song, and even if this is the case, they’ve more than likely heard a song or two recorded by this famous band.
The Beatles became part of pop culture history; it is considered one of the most influential bands of all times, many would argue the most.
