3. Language Common and Proper Nouns
• A noun names a person, place, thing, or idea. Nouns are divided in common and proper nouns.
a common noun names any person, place, thing, or idea. Examples:
boy, girl, doctor, ant, mouse, dove, forest, jungle, school, hospital, restaurant, branch, tree, basket, kindness, freedom, love.
a proper noun names a specific person, place, thing, or idea. Proper nouns always begin with capital letter.
Examples:
alice, Jason, ant, Dove, mickey mouse, Tijuana, Los angeles, Disneyland, mexicali.
