Did you know that trees play an important role in producing oxygen and cleaning the air by reducing carbon dioxide?
The process of changing carbon dioxide into oxygen is called photosynthesis. This means plants are natural filters that help reduce pollution from the air we breathe.
Photosynthesis
“Photo” is a Greek word that means light.
“Synthesis” is a Greek word that means putting together.
Energy
    Oxygen is released
  Carbon Dioxide
Chlorophyll
    Water
Glucose is formed
Photosynthesis is the way plants eat; it is how they produce their own food.
Trees need three things to live: carbon dioxide, water, and light. Instead of being like us and needing oxygen, plants need to breathe in carbon dioxide. You already know you need to water plants for them to live; trees drink water by using their roots. The sun provides the last thing they need, which is light.
When plants have these three elements, they produce sugar and oxygen. Sugar is their food and oxygen is what they breathe out.
That is why it is very important to take care of all plants. They are doing us an enormous service.
