Living Things and their Environment
Just like us, animals have a home. For them it’s called a habitat.
Every animal has their own habitat. It is a very special place because it is where animals get their food and, of course, their shelter.
Animals are wonderful creatures that have to adapt to their environment.
For example, polar bears have thick fur and skin to protect them from the extreme cold weather they live in. They are able to store fat in their bodies to help them keep warm.
Camels also are amazing; they are able to survive in the desert and can go without water and food for a long time. The main reason for this is that their bodies are built for the extremely hot weather. They store fat in their humps, and water in their bodies.
