4. Extension to History Thanksgiving
For the United States, Thanksgiving is a big celebration. They celebrate it every 4th Thursday of November. In this holiday the American people give thanks for all the blessings they have received during the year. Usually families eat turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, and stuffing. But every family has their own special menu.
Do you know how this celebration started?
In 1620, a group of pilgrims from England left their country so they could have religious freedom. This means they wanted to practice the religion they chose, not the one the government told them to believe in.
The pilgrims boarded the Mayflower and sailed for 66 days to America in hopes of a better life. More than a hundred men, women, and children crossed the Atlantic Ocean. There was even a pregnant woman who gave birth to a baby boy who she
