Sally smiled and said, “Will you let my friends and me play?”
Mark shook his head “No! Girls aren’t good at playing soccer!”
Sally raised her eyebrows. “Well, if you guys are so much better, prove it!
“What do you mean?” asked Mark, confused.
“I mean, that your team
of boys and my team of girls
will play one soccer game, this Friday. If we win, we get to share the soccer court and can play with you, and we prove that girls can play soccer just as well as boys or better,” said Sally.
“And what if we win?” asked Mark.
“If you win, we leave you guys alone, and you get to keep the soccer court all to yourselves and you get to prove that boys are better than girls,” said Sally. “So, what do you say?”
“I say we have a deal!” said Mark, smiling. “We’ll beat you girls for sure!”
Sally grinned, “Oh, I would not be so sure.”
