4. Extension to Art Michelangelo
Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564), born on March 6th in Caprese, Italy, is considered one of the best artists of all times. He was a brilliant man; he was a painter, sculptor, poet, and architect. He is very well known for his frescos and sculptures.
He was the second of five brothers. When Michelangelo was only a child, his mother, Francesca Neri, was very sick. Since it was hard for her to take care of him, they decided to send him away to a stonecutterĀ“s home. Sadly, his mother died when he was only six years old.
His father noticed that his son was very smart, and decided to send him to school where they taught grammar, but Michelangelo was more interested in painting.
When he was a teenager, he began studying the art of fresco, and later went on to study at the sculpture school.
He was fascinated with the human body and spent years studying it. He even was given permission to look at dead bodies so he could study them. He drew different sketches of people, focusing on the muscles, bones, and how they moved.
